HISTORY


Maple Glen's history is essentially the history of Philadelphia, America's founding city. The Lenape Indians lived here first, then the Dutch came to Delaware Valley in the 1620s. It's the city of Ben Franklin, the Continental Congress, William Penn, the Declaration of Independence and the Liberty Bell. Philadelphia was the temporary U.S. capital  from 1790 to 1800. There are dozens of buildings on the National Registry of Historic places, including the Benjamin Franklin Hotel, the Drexel and Company Building and Carpenter Hall on the Independence Mall.
