HISTORY
As its name suggests, North Wales was settled by Welsh immigrants who named it after the region of the same name back home. Part of a 1702 William Penn land grant, this rich farming country was given the Welsh name "Gwynedd" for the homeland of the earliest settlers and it began as a pastoral village in agricultural Gwynedd Township. North Wales was the first borough in the North Penn Area to establish a Historic Preservation District. Fun fact: John Oates of Hall and Oates hails from North Wales.
PARKS & RECREATION
North Wales Parks and Recreation oversees many scenic parks and facilities with ball fields, courts, picnic areas and trails. Among them are Weingartner Park, the Nor-Gwyn Community Pool, Eighth Street Park, which a group of local children designed, and Ninth Street Park, which is home to dozens of different species of birds.
ATTRACTIONS & EVENTS
The tight-knit community of North Wales enjoys small neighborhood events like performances in the park and workshops at the Library.
