Rydal, PA - Homes for Sale and Community Information

Home in Rydal PA
While it might have a similar name to the high school featured in the hit film "Grease," you won't find Danny and Sandy roaming the streets of Rydal, Pennsylvania. This Rydal is an unincorporated community in Albington Township, 12 miles from Philadelphia.

This charming, tight-knit community is filled with dozens of historic properties that date back to the 1800s. These homes have been  updated with new features, including stainless steel kitchen appliances, modern bathrooms with steam showers, built-in bookcases, original hardwood floors and pedestal sinks. Rydal doesn't boast a large number of expensive homes, but you will find a handful of luxury homes and single family estates.

Why pay thousands more for a small home in Philly when you can buy a larger Rydal home for less? Whether you commute to Philadelphia for work, or just want to live close to the city, Rydal is an ideal home base.

HISTORY

Rydal's history is essentially the history of Philadelphia, America's founding city. The Lenape Indians lived here first, then the Dutch came to Delaware Valley in the 1620s. It's the city of Ben Franklin, the Continental Congress, William Penn, the Declaration of Independence and the Liberty Bell.
Rydal was one of many Pennsylvania towns that came about because of Philadelphia's status as a railroad hub. Though the town originally consisted of little more than a train depot (which still stands), visitors quickly found themselves falling in love with the area and settling in.
